What Actually Happens in a QHHT Session?

If you’ve been curious about QHHT but aren’t totally sure what happens in a session, you’re not alone. Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique® (QHHT), created by Dolores Cannon, is a powerful method that allows you to access a deep state of consciousness — where you can explore past lives, connect with your Higher Self, and receive clarity and healing, amongst other adventures.
This article is here to walk you through what actually happens in a session, from start to finish — no fluff, no mystery language, just real talk.
Before the Session: Intentions + Questions
As a client, you’ll come to the session with a list of questions you want to ask your Higher Self. These can be about anything — your health, life path, relationships, work, recurring challenges, past-life patterns, or spiritual purpose.
You’ll also come in with a general intention for your session. Some clients want clarity on a specific issue, while others just feel a deep inner pull to explore and heal. We go over both your questions and intentions together at the beginning of your session, so everything feels aligned.
The Interview: Getting to Know Your Story
Every session begins with a conversation. This is where we sit down and talk about you — your background, your challenges, your gifts, your goals, and where you’re seeking clarity or support.
This part of the process can be deeply healing on its own, because it’s a rare opportunity to be fully heard and seen — confidentially, and without judgment. That’s why it’s so important to choose a practitioner you feel safe and comfortable with. The more openly you’re able to share, the more naturally your subconscious will begin to engage in the work.
We’ll also go over your intentions and the list of questions you’ve prepared for your Higher Self. Often, simply speaking these out loud brings new insights or clarity — a natural part of the process that helps set the stage for the deeper work to come.
Before we move on to they hypnosis part of the session, we’ll take some time for bathroom break and a light lunch.
The Regression: Dropping Into Theta
After the interview, you’ll lie back and get comfortable. I guide you into a deep, relaxed state — known as the theta brainwave state — which is similar to what you experience when you are falling asleep, or during a deep meditation.
From here, we begin the past life regression portion of the session. You may be guided into one or more lifetimes (or other experiences, depending on what your subconscious brings forward). These stories often hold emotional or energetic patterns that are directly connected to your current life and questions and before moving on we’ll be sure to learn why your subconscious decided to show you what it did.
Not everyone experiences this the same way — some people see vivid scenes, others just “know” what’s happening. Some feel strong emotions; others feel calm. It’s not about doing it “right” — it’s about letting what wants to emerge, emerge.
Accessing the Higher Self (This Is the Gold)
After the past life regression portion, we shift into the heart of the session and begin communication with your Higher Self (also called the Subconscious or Oversoul in QHHT language).
This is the part of you that holds deep wisdom, sees your life clearly, and understands what you're here to learn, heal, and embody. In this phase, I ask your Higher Self the questions you brought in — and the responses are often direct, loving, insightful, and sometimes even surprising.
Clients often describe this part of the session as deeply validating, calming, and clarifying. Many say it feels like they were “remembering something they already knew.”
This is where emotional and physical healing can occur — and where the core messages from the session are delivered.
Returning and Integration
After the Higher Self work is complete, I guide you gently back to full waking awareness. Most clients remember everything, but the session is also recorded for you to listen to again later — because there's usually a lot of information to absorb.
We take some time to ground, reflect, and go over what came up — not to analyze it, but to help you connect the dots and begin integrating the insights into your day-to-day life.
